Tae Kwon Do with Zen Martial Arts School

Tuesdays,
6-8p in the
Fairview Gym

"Martial ways without technical excellence are nothing but empty discussion and pursuit. Martial ways without the realization of /files/Web Images - School/Logos/taekwando-moyes.jpgthe mind are beastly behavior."

This quote embodies the working philosophy of the Zen Martial Arts school. We do things to our best ability physically wIth precision, speed, and power. But, if we leave out the mind then we are pursuing beastly behavior. And unfortunately, there are some current trends towards this kind of beastly behavior within the martial arts community that are now making their way into everyday sports culture.

In our school we teach discipline, respect, and self control, along with challenging the mind in several different ways. Students are required to write papers and present them upon testing for a new belt. Students are also asked to keep a notebook/journal to record any new skills they learned and to track progress. It is our goal to train well rounded martial artists who use the things they have learned to benefit thier communities and the people around them, not just to train fighters.

/files/Web Images - School/Logos/taekwando-rothschillers.jpgOne thing that makes us unique from many other martial arts schools is that we integrate students of different ages into our community. Greg Diloreto, Instructor, says "As much as possible I try to have children and adults working together. I think this is an invaluable experience for everyone as we learn to care for one another and become a sort of family versus just being a class. There is still time when the kids are working with other kids and the adults are working with adults, but, I find that mixing the age groups creates a better learning environment for all."

/files/Web Images - School/Logos/taekwando-dylan.jpgChildren of all ages are welcome to be present during our classes. The minimum age for participation in the class is 4-5 depending on the child. There are also breaks during the class for kids who need to leave. Two hours can be a lot to ask of a child, so the breaks may also serve as a good exit point for some kids as they grow in their ability to participate in the class for that long.

Come join the class for a great workout for all ages!  The first month is free, so there's no reason not to give it a try!

/files/Web Images - School/Logos/taekwando-class.jpgMy name is Greg Di Loreto. I have studied the martial arts for over 23 years. As a teenager I developed an interest in the martial arts. I started training at Zen Martial Arts International under Master W.P. Yip. Master Yip has taught the martial arts for over 30 years and has been a martial arts practitioner for over 50. In 2000, Master Rick Stillwagon began working with Master Yip, combining their skills and knowledge. This has provided me with a well rounded martial arts education that has prepared me to teach.

In today's world, confidence and self-esteem are some of the building blocks for success. Nothing takes away a child's self-confidence more than being the "last one picked" or sitting on the bench. In our school, no one sits on the bench. Our classes provide something for eveyone.
