School Board
The school board is composed of dedicated volunteers from the church, the school staff, and parents of Fairview students. As a subsidiary board to the Elder board of The Fairview Church, the School board has oversight over the vision, mission, goals and overall direction of the school and provide support to the school staff. The board usually meets at 7pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Fairview. Visitors are welcome! Current members of the board are listed below.
You can e-mail us at fcsboard@fcsseattle.org. Suggestions and ideas are always well received!
Gary Madsen This is Gary's 12th year as Provost, and 15th year at Fairview. He has a BA in Religion and an M.S. in Community Counseling from Seattle Pacific University. He loves spending time with his family when not at Fairview. His favorite thing about working at Fairview is serving God, the staff, and the children. One of his favorite Bible passages is Hebrews 12:1-3 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." |

This is Diane's first year on the School Board at Fairview. She has two Fairview graduates that now attend King's High School. Both children attended Fairview from three day Preschool though Eighth grade. During that time Diane and her husband, Mike served in many capacities. They were auction co-chairs, yearbook editors, fundraising chair, PTF president and all around boy/girl Friday. It is a pleasure to experience service to the school from a different angle. When not supporting FCS, Diane is a full time mom, wife, daughter and friend. A walk around Greenlake three times a week is a highlight of each week! |

Chuck was born in Brooklyn New York. He grew up in suburban Huntington, Long Island, spending his summers fishing, boating, bicycling, and tinkering with rusty old cars. He attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After spending too many years landlocked in the Midwest, he moved to Seattle; that was almost 20 years ago. He has been actively supporting the Fairview Christian School since his son John started preschool here 8 years ago. He has served Fairview as a school board member and also as part of the school's volunteer Information Technology staff. Chuck lives a few block from Fairview. He works as a Engineering Manager for a small local manufacturing company. When not at work, his favorite activities to do with John are cooking, bicycling, fishing and volunteering with John's Boy Scout troop. In his free time he still tinkers with cars, having worked for several years as crew chief for a local racing team. He also likes to do home remodeling projects and has twice traveled to Mexico with ClubRust to build houses for the needy. |

Sandie has been on the school board for 3 years. She has attended Fairview Church for many years and enjoys Bible study and choir. Her favorite book of the Bible is James because it is a quick read of what God expects for us in the Christian life. She treasures the time spent with family and enjoys reading and spending time on San Juan Island. Sandie grew up in the Seattle area and attended Bagley Elementary, Wilson Junior High and Lincoln High School. "Fairview offers a wonderful small school environment in a caring Christian atmosphere, something I can totally support". |
Kevin Tucker This is Kevin’s first year on the School board. He is a parent of 3 children who have been students at Fairview since PreSchool and are currently enrolled in Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades. He is the current Director of the Technology Department at FCS, which means he is part of the Parent-Teacher Fellowship Board, as well. He is currently an elder on the board of Fairview Church and works as a software engineer in downtown Seattle. He also maintains a computer consulting business on the side and helps manage the neighborhood Little League’s website in his spare time. Although he spends too much time in front of a computer, he does enjoy reading fantasy, sci-fi and historical novels, and he is currently working towards his orange belt in Tae Kwon Do. You wouldn’t know it from their current state of neglect, but he also enjoys working in his yard and garden. Somehow, he does manage to find a little time to spend with wife, Leigh, and kids, Josh, Morgan and Zach. One of his favorite passages from the Bible: 1 Thes 4:11-12 "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." |

Dick has been on the FCS board a couple of times for about ten years of service. He has three adult daughters who all live in the Seattle area. He and his wife, Priscilla, enjoy travel and have been to many foreign countries. Dick retired in 2003 after a forty-year career as a mathematics and computer science professor with thirty of those years at Seattle Pacific University. He spends much of his retirement time reading and doing yard work. Priscilla volunteers to teach keyboarding and computer skills at FCS. She taught these and other business subjects for thirty years at Auburn High School. |
